Char kuey teow, hand-pulled pan mee and nasi lemak: our must-orders at 92 Fatt Kee, PJ

Non-stop char kuey teow, popular hand-pulled pan mee and tasty nasi lemak: what our editor always orders at 92 Fatt Kee in Petaling Jaya.

Updated November 2026

This article covers 92 Fatt Kee Restaurant, a coffee shop in Seksyen 2, Petaling Jaya, and the three things our editor looks for there. Our editor ate here on 15 August, and the order is a familiar one: char kuey teow and hand-pulled pan mee are must-orders on every visit, with a plate of nasi lemak on the side. Below is what to expect from each stall, and how to plan your visit.

Some coffee shops have one stall you can spot from the door. At 92 Fatt Kee, our editor says, it's the char kuey teow. Plenty of people here are eating it, and the person at the wok just keeps frying without a break. For a plate of noodles, that's about as good a sign as you'll get in a Malaysian kopitiam.

The plate in our editor's photo arrives with flat noodles tossed with bean sprouts and scrambled egg, a few prawns on top, and a whole fried egg with crisp, lacy edges laid over everything. Break the yolk and mix it through before you start. Malay Mail reported in July 2025 that Ah Seong's char kuey teow, a name with a long history in the area, had moved to this coffee shop, which helps explain the crowd.

Next comes the hand-pulled pan mee, the other dish our editor sees many people ordering. Whenever our editor comes to this coffee shop, these two are must-orders. The bowl in our photos is a comfort food kind of soup: wide, uneven sheets of noodle in a clear broth, topped with minced meat, mushrooms, greens, a soft egg and a generous pile of fried shallots. That irregular shape is the charm of the hand-pulled style, since no two pieces are quite the same. There's chilli on the side if you want more heat.

Then there's the third order, and it's easy to miss if you only follow the crowd. Our editor rates the nasi lemak as pretty tasty, and notes that it's sold by a young person running the stall. Our photos show a neat dome of coconut rice with cucumber, a boiled egg and two kinds of sambal, alongside potato curry with chicken. It makes a good counterpoint to the noodles, so it's worth adding one plate to share.

Other diners back that up. Reviewers describe the pan mee broth as flavourful with a gentle sweetness and praise the wok hei on the char kuey teow. Some also come for the Indian mixed rice with its thick curry, the Ipoh hor fun and a good kopi peng, so there's no shortage of reasons to return.

That's really the appeal of a place like this. Everyone can pick from a different stall, sit at the same table, and finish with a clear idea of what they'll order next time. For our editor, the next time starts with the same two bowls and plates.
